BLIXT ARTS LAB is excited about the success of the performances of Foster by Summer Lukasiewicz. Foster is a new work in development which was performed as a staged reading, directed by Michelle Colette Ingle and produced by BLIXT.
The play is inspired by 30+ interviews with early childcare providers, staff, advocates, parents, and children in Nebraska, and explores the importance of quality early childhood education in our state.
Synopsis:
A tenacious, experienced teacher has developed an early childhood education program that harnesses the power of play to create a safe learning environment where kids can thrive. When she meets Foster, a five-year-old navigating difficult challenges, all her best practices are put to the test. As she strives to build rapport with Foster, her methods and credibility are called into question by legislators who have the power to fund or defund early childhood education. Foster and his teacher move from challenges within the safety of their classroom to face challenges on a much bigger stage. Will their courage make a difference?
