The arts are a powerful catalyst for building a better world! Say hello to our team and learn a little bit more about what makes BLIXT ARTS LAB so cozy yet electric!
In August 2022 BLIXT ARTS LAB knew a good thing when we saw it: an opportunity for bricks in mortar home in Lincoln's vibrant University Place. Gaga's Flowers had been a staple in the neighborhood for over 25 years, and was preparing to permanently close. Soon it would be an empty storefront.
At BLIXT ARTS LAB, we know that what sometimes looks "empty" is space for a dream.
We embraced risk and got to work, taking over 10 months to complete our zoning and to transform the beautiful old building into an intimate blackbox theater, meeting, educational, and research space.
We believed enough in the possibilities for deep community connections that we invested over $16,000 into this transformation.
Already, the physical home of BLIXT ARTS LAB has become a strong presence in North Lincoln, providing the following:
Whatever your passion, please join us soon at BLIXT ARTS LAB for an upcoming event. You are wanted and welcome here. Always.
At BLIXT ARTS LAB, we believe in the transformative power of the arts to inspire, connect, and elevate humanity. We are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive creative community where all voices are heard, celebrated, and valued.
Our commitment to DEI is at the core of everything we do:
Diversity: We celebrate the rich tapestry of human experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives. We actively seek diversity in our artists, audiences, and collaborators because we know that a wide range of voices makes our art stronger.
Equity: We strive for fairness and justice in all aspects of our work. We believe that access to the arts should be equitable, and we work to remove barriers that prevent people from participating fully in our programs.
Inclusion: We are dedicated to creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and respected. We actively engage with and listen to underrepresented communities, and we take action to ensure that their stories and experiences are represented in our work.
Through ongoing education, collaboration, and introspection, we will continually improve our DEI efforts to better reflect the world we live in. We understand that this journey is ongoing and we are committed to being an agent of positive change in the arts and beyond.
